The 2016 Election
This year’s election has been everything but normal, it has incited many discussions about the best candidate. The Republican nominee, Donald J Trump, a billionaire businessman, and reality tv star. The Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton, an American politician. Both candidates have had tons of negative attention with the media. I don’t believe both are not qualified for presidency.
Hillary Clinton might try to persuade the nation that she is trying to better the minority community, but has shown otherwise. There have been many incidents where she has said racist remarks. For instance, when she lashed out at Paul Fray with, “f*cking jew bastard”, or when she stated, “I am adamantly against illegal immigrants.”, or the time that she made fun of Mahatma Gandhi. All those statements go against “her beliefs” in this election. She changes her mind for her own benefit, and not for the benefit of the country.
Although Donald Trump doesn’t change his statements, he is not fit to be president. He has judged people on their looks, gender, disabilities, nationality, religion, and sexual orientation. As president, Trump’s main goal should be to lead those who reside in the United States. He should not segregate the nation that he should be bettering. In addition, electing Trump is also the election of Vice President Mike Pence, a man who thinks shock therapy will change gay people’s sexual orientation. Trump is nowhere near being a good leader for the United States.
These past two weeks have been hectic with the election of Donald Trump. Citizens in major cities have started protesting to his election, the do not believe that the election was fair. This being due to the fact that he was elected through the Electoral College, and not through the popular vote. The youth has been walking out of school to try to bring attention to their voice, they want to try and have the Electoral College choose Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump. These protests keep occurring in hope of change.
Even though I don’t believe either candidate is suitable for presidency, I would rather have Hillary Clinton as president instead of Donald Trump. She might lie, but she does not have radical beliefs that put the residents of the United States in danger. She is more qualified to be president, than he is.
